The Appeal
The 8-Series was clever. Not only did it look quite unlike other big GTs with its long, low shark-nosed profile, but it packed in new technology that was a showcase for what BMW could do.
Expensive and rarified it was never a big seller with just 2,190 V8s like this car arriving on these shores. But like all great cars, aficionados have latterly discovered what contemporary buyers missed - these are truly great sports cars.
This is arguably the one to have. Equipped with the later 4.4litre M62 V8 and tempting Sport Individual features like the Sportronic sequential auto, smaller door mirrors and model-secific front and rear bumpers, it is beautifully finished in a similarly desirable colour scheme. Low mileage and with a reassuring long MOT this is a great example of BMW’s 90s technological tour de force.
