The Appeal

Replacing the enormously successful R107 was no easy task. And in doing so, Mercedes-Benz took a huge leap of faith, trying something completely different. Launched in 1989, the Bruno Sacco-desigend R129 SL looked nothing like its predecesor and was packed with technology, including a rather clever 'electro-hydraulic' soft top and numerous advanced safety systems.

This 1996 example is resplendent in the rare and desirable hue of 'Green Black Metallic' and it sits upon a smart set of AMG alloy wheels.
