The Appeal
In 1979, four short years after its launch, nobody could have predicted that the XJS would become one of Jaguar’s longest lived and most successful models. Back then sales were at a trickle, barely nudging 1,000 per year.
A clever rethink saved it. And looking at this smart Antigua Blue convertible we can be glad it did. As a late model car it features all the reasons why the XJS survived, starting with the distinctive styling. These last cars were galvanised from new and were the most luxurious and best built of the car’s 21 year run.
This one also features the highly regarded, very reliable chain-driven AJ6 straight six engine and later 4spd automatic gearbox. It has covered few miles in its 28 years and arrives with us looking smart and well cared for. A long MOT to June 2025, which has no mechanical or structural advisories, underlines the impression of an attractive and very usable summer road trip companion.
