The Appeal
The Brooklands name evoked Bentley’s competition-crushing success at the cradle of motor racing and was intended as an ‘entry level’ model. But there was nothing basic about this £150,000 car which borrowed its sporting-tinged aesthetics from the Turbo.
It did without a Turbo until the 1997 model year when the gargantuan 6.8litre V8 got a 300bhp light pressure turbo. Just 1,343 Brooklands left the factory of which only 652 were RHD.
This is a desirable 1997 model year example, registered late in 1996 and one of the 194 RHD Brooklands built that year. Presented in a particularly compelling black and cream colour scheme – with complementary carbon fibre veneers – its low mileage is supported by 19 service stamps.
The MOT runs to July 2024 with no advisories meaning it all adds up to a great example of a potent Bentley saloon.
