The Background
Produced between 1994 and 1998 the 993 was the last 911 to be powered by their famous boxer 6-cylinder air-cooled engine. It is certainly one of the prettiest 911’s and is very much the driver’s car, especially with its 3,600cc engine producing an impressive 285 HP.
The 993 is now a highly sought-after version of perhaps one of the best sports cars ever made. Prices continue to rise as the world falls in love with the sound and the power delivery of those air-cooled engines, once smitten it hard to accept any substitute.
The History
This three owner Porsche has been garaged and regularly maintained by Porsche and Porsche specialists from day one.
The accompanying bills and receipts shows that it has wanted for nothing, it has always been garaged and its overall condition today is a credit to all these owners and Porsche quality of build and engineering excellence.

*The car had a new speedometer at just after 103,000 miles in 2012 so its overall recorded mileage is around 127,000 rather than the indicated 23,000.
The Paperwork
There’s plenty of paperwork and history for the full life of this nice Carrera 4. The V5c shows only two owners, there a whole stack of invoices from Porsche centres and specialists for services and maintenance carried out and it certainly appears to have lacked for nothing. There are plenty of tax discs and MOTs, and a nicely stamped up service book.
The current MOT expires in June 2022 and the space saver wheel, tools and air compressor and gauge are all present along with the original owner’s manuals and several sets of keys.
The Interior
The Cashmere Beige leather interior is still in very nice condition and features electric sports seats, a wind deflector, a top tinted windscreen and an uprated sound system.
The rarely found wooden inlay on the dashboard and on the instruments binnacle is a nice classic touch and adds a sense of style to the ergonomics of the whole beautifully designed Porsche interior.

The door cards and carpets are all very good and other than a few light scratches and scuffs on the odd bit of black trim, and some leather missing on the top of the dashboard where something has obviously been stuck down and then removed, the whole interior looks a great place to be and spend time. The vendor confirms that the original mats are also included.
The plastic surrounds for the seat levers appear to be missing but these should be easy to track down and replace.

The Exterior
The rarely seen Aventurine Green Metallic paint is a lovely medium green with a touch of blue-grey, and it is still has a deep and glossy shine to it, and it really suits this car with the contrasting Beige interior.
The de-badged Carrera 4 sits nicely on its clean and undamaged 17” alloy wheels, all with good tyres and the black hood opens and closes smoothly and is in good condition with no rips or tears or loose stitching.
There is a large scratch on the rear bumper and a very light one to the nearside front wing as well as some stone chips on the front and bonnet. There is also a small area of bubbling paint just above the passenger door handle but overall it presents itself really well from every angle.
It is also important to note that there is evidence of some surface corrosion/bubbling to the front wheel arch on the drivers side, towards the bottom of the arch. The affected area covers approximately 2 square inches, which can be seen within the below image gallery.

The Mechanics
Recently fully serviced and reported to be running faultlessly there is no doubt this Carrera has been well cared for over the years with any problem addressed and parts needed replaced.
The C4s tend to be hard on their clutches and a new one was fitted in 2018 and a few thousand miles ago.
The Appeal
Where to start with addressing this car’s appeal? The 993 is such a great classic car and is in great demand and, further than that, it’s a true Porsche 911 with an air-cooled engine producing 285 HP, a soft-top, 6-speed manual gearbox, and permanent 4-wheel drive to help keep everything in shape in even the wettest of conditions.
It's lovely exterior and interior colours and its generally excellent all-round original condition coupled with a good service history from Porsche and Porsche specialists make this a very hard car to say no to.
