The Appeal
With the 996 reset in the works, there was no obvious need to make the short-lived 993 so good. But Porsche knew this would be the last of the air-cooled 911s. And, after all, we’re talking about Porsche engineers.
The 993 looks a lot like earlier 911s but, as enthusiasts know, it was significantly changed. The result is a car that spans the old and new eras. As such, good examples are in high demand.
This car, finished in smart Aventura Green metallic, is exactly that. It is a Carrera 4 with the planted AWD system. The black leather interior features the Hard Back sports seats and extended leather package for the door cards. Its long term enthusiast keeper has enjoyed it, but rewarded its regular use with ongoing investment. Alongside sensible preventative work to the body and regular maintenance - by main dealers and well regarded specialists - there are subtle upgrades to improve the drivability. The suspension has been overhauled and improved by Centre Gravity and there is a MPL clutch slave cylinder to improve drivability. The car was last serviced by a Porsche specialist earlier this year.
The list of work undertaken by the seller is too extensive to list here. So helpfully he has put into into a 2 page spreadsheet that you can view in the photos. That lengthy document should give you an idea of what to expect when you look at the photos.
Good 993s are owned by enthusiast keepers. The history file attests to that. The advisory-free MOT to the end of November underlines the point. One not to miss.
