The Appeal
The Jaguar XJS is one of the most successful, long-lived vehicles in the manufacturer’s repertoire. In the late ‘90s when XJS production came to an end, Jaguar made sure it went out with a bang. The XJS Celebration was the final iteration of the model, carrying a real sense of occasion, and it continues to do so today.
This is a great example of the Celebration model: highly original, well cared for and with that smashing interior, this car has had a relatively peaceful life that’s kept it looking and acting at its best. The Celebration might be over, but this classy motor is ready to party on with a host of celebrities on its passenger list. The owner’s career as a record producer leads him to confidently state that Oasis and Paul Weller have all been on board.
The car offered for sale here is presented in very good condition throughout, and comes with an extensive history detailing its careful maintenance. And with the current owner having looked after this Jaguar for 25 years, now it’s time find its next custodian.

The Interior

- Convertible hood replaced in 2014 and in good condition, with no rips or tears
- When lowering the soft top the roof bar need to be held slightly to stop it touching the top of back seats
- Desirable 16'' Lattice alloys
- Matching set of tyres with some signs of ageing
The Mechanics
- Straight-six AJ16 engine, highly regarded
- New handbrake and gearbox mounts fitted in 2017
- According to the vendor, the parking brake light stays on due to a minor electrical fault
- Central locking is slightly stiff but still functions as expected
- Engine bay clean and well-kept
- Some corrosion can be see on the suspension components
- The owner informs us there are no faults with the engine and that regular mechanical care has kept it in good working order
Summary
With its powerful engine, excellent interior and eye catching shape, this XJS is a superb choice for any collector. The 1996 brochure carried the byline ‘A car offering more excitement, distinction, and value for money than ever before.’ - and that remains every bit as valid today.
