The Appeal

In 1995, Jaguar were celebrating their fiftieth anniversary, and no car seemed more fitting to mark the occasion than their hugely successful XJS. We can only presume the naming department were on holiday when they dubbed it the 'Celebration' model - but the car has more thought and refinement than the somewhat bland name may suggest.

Now carrying the updated AJ16 powerplant, with the newly designed coil-on-plug ignition, the Celebration cars were differentiated from their peers with diamond turned wheels, a wooden steering wheel, and embossed Jaguar branding emblazoning the upholstery. It was quite the enticing car, and by virtue was one of the last hurrahs of the legendary, buttressed tourer.

This example is particularly handsome - check out that Bright Turquoise livery - and is in highly original condition, with only the radio really standing out from the car's factory spec. With only three registered keepers from new, and a history in the same family since 1998, this XJS is an absolute gem.

Good bodywork overall
Some light signs of wear here and there
Some scuffs and marks to the bumpers
Odd, gentle and isolated areas of blistering here and there
Diamond turned wheels are present and correct
Underside has been painted in chassis black and looks solid
We do note some areas of corrosion
Oatmeal Leather interior in good overall condition
Some light nicks and parts to the leather
Veneers are looking a little tired with the odd crack or fracture
All instruments are clean and legible with light wear

The roof occasionally gets stuck on the rear headrests when retracting
The air con when switched on does not make the air cooler but the light on the switch comes on (could be a possible re-gas)
The radio on the stereo it does not pick up a signal
