1994 Range Rover 4.2 LSE (Soft Dash)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Stunning condition – extensively rebuilt
  • Owned new by boxer Chris Eubank
  • Extensive (and expensive) Rustbuster body protection
  • Fully reconditioned 4.2 V8, carried out by V8 Developments

THE APPEAL

Sometimes, you just have to save the best until last – and that’s what Land Rover did with the final iteration of the Range Rover Classic.
Introduced in 1992, the long-wheelbase LSE model used a larger 4,275cc version of the stalwart Rover V8, nominally referred to as a 4.2 but actually closer to 4.3-litres in capacity. Later models also had a revised cabin, with a more modern fascia in the style of the new P38a Range Rover, and are known among enthusiasts as the soft-dash models.
This one has a fully known history. It was purchased new by the boxer, Chris Eubank, whose name appears in the service book. He kept it until 2000 when it was bought by the cousin of the vendor’s wife, from whom he bought it in 2014. It shows four previous keepers on the logbook, but this is because it was registered to limited companies owned by both Chris Eubank and the previous keeper, as well as registered to them privately.
When acquired in 2014, the Range Rover had sat for 11 years on the previous owner’s drive and was bought by the vendor to be restored, with extensive body repairs and several new interior bits, as well as a comprehensive transmission and engine overhaul.
The vendor has covered 12,000 miles in the Range Rover and it’s a reluctant sale, but funds are required for an imminent major purchase.
