1994 Porsche 993 911 Carrera Coupe

Highlights

  • Light and nimble 272bhp Carrera model
  • Sparingly used since bodywork respray and engine rebuild
  • Spent most of its life in salt-free Japan
  • Appealing silver over blue leather colour scheme
  • MOT to November with no advisories
  • Very tidy 6spd manual car ready to enjoy

The Appeal

The 993 looked a lot like the classic air cooled 911s that went before. But, as enthusiasts know, looks can deceive. Porsche claimed that when it came to creating the new car, little remained from the original and they were right. With its clever new suspension and revised engines, the firm had definitely saved the best til last.
There are more powerful variants but purists rate the 272bhp Carrera. The lightest of the variants, these cars, particularly when equipped with Porsche’s new 6spd manual as here, are devilishly entertaining on the A to B.
This smart silver over blue leather ‘94 car spent most of its life on the salt-free roads of Japan before arriving here in 2015. It has covered only 6,000 miles since, spending its time in careful dry storage between usage. The paintwork has been refreshed, the engine has been rebuilt and it is reported to run beautifully. An advisory-free MOT to November 2024 reinforces the point.
The 993 was the last of the classic air-cooled 911s and the Carrera coupe perhaps the best real world version. Don’t let this one get away.

History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1994
  • Chassis number confirms this as a 1994MY car
  • Spent its life on the salt-free roads of Japan until 2015
  • Imported from Japan to the UK and registered here on 1st June 2015
  • Four registered keepers since arriving in the UK
  • Regularly MOT tested since arrival showing 6,000 miles covered since
  • Dry stored in a secure storage unit when not in use
  • Reported to have been in storage for four years but has been regularly MOT’d
  • MOT to 18th November 2024 with no advisories
  • 204,082 kms showing on MOT test and now on 204,272 kms (126,929 miles)
  • Replacement factory handbooks and service book
  • Engine rebuilt and resprayed according to seller

The Condition

  • Recently resprayed in silver metallic and presents in very good condition
  • Few signs of use following this work due to mainly being in storage
  • Bodywork very well kept with no obvious deterioration
  • Underside presents very well with no structural advisories on MOT test
  • Sits on smart five spoke factory alloys in very good condition
  • Supplied with car cover and space saver spare wheel
  • Blue leather LHD interior in good order with few signs of age
  • There are minor marks to note in photos to wheel and seat bolster
  • Very original and well specified car including electric seats, windows and sunroof
  • Carpets in good order through boot and cabin with protective branded and fitted mats
  • Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth capability
The joy of a 993 is that it retains much of the visual magic of the original 60s cars but neatly updated for a mid-90s audience. This car has been fully resprayed so the silver paintwork is in very good order with few signs that this is a 30 year old car. The five spoke ‘Cup’ type alloys accent what is a purposeful and pretty shape.
Inside the original blue leather interior is well preserved and pleasingly unmodified. The signs of use and age are exceptionally minor and restricted to common areas such as seat bolster and wheel, neither of which would take much to improve, should the buyer feel that is necessary.

The Mechanics

  • 272bhp air cooled flat six 3.6litre Porsche engine
  • Engine has been rebuilt according to vendor
  • 6spd manual gearbox
  • Factory tool kit in good order
  • The vendor informs us that the mechanical condition is like new with no imperfections
  • No mechanical or running gear advisories on current MOT
Porsche significantly overhauled the M64 flat six engine for the 993. In the Carrera it is good for 272bhp. As the lightest version of the 993, it certainly makes the most of it. We are told that the engine on this car has been fully rebuilt and covered few miles since.
This car has the desirable 6spd manual gearbox, which is both slick and engaging and makes high speed driving more relaxing than with earlier models.
This car has been in storage for the last four years, but sparingly used and regularly MOT’d. This gives buyers a record of previous and current condition. The current tests contains no mechanical or running gear advisories and the vendor informs us that the car has no faults and there is nothing for the buyer to do on purchase.
