The Appeal
Porsche first started looking for a 911 replacement during the mid-’70s, opting for a very different formula in the guise of the front-engined, water-cooled 924, 944 and 928. Ultimately (and fortunately), the inimitable 911 never died. But we’re equally glad Porsche did build some different cars during this period. The very last of them was the 968 - replacing and indeed based upon the 944 which had begun to decline in sales.
This one’s the UK market only 968 Sport - essentially a Club Sport with most of the standard coupés desirable luxuries added back in. It’s in lovely original condition and benefits from a great deal of expenditure during recent years. Freshly serviced in October 2024 and complete with a long, advisory-free MOT, it’s ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
The vendor sums up their ownership:
“Very standard car with excellent maintenance in recent years. Great to drive, lovely gearbox, good seating position, large removable sunroof with bag for storage in the hatchback boot”.
