The appeal
Perhaps no Porsche better illustrates the firm's unique approach to engineering than the 968. What began as a low-powered, affordable coupe evolved into a fast, capable and luxurious GT that could easily rival its rear-engined cousins in terms of elegance and performance.
The 968 received the 3-litre version of the original 4-cylinder engine, now with variable valve timing and 16 valves, as well as a new 6-speed manual gearbox. The revamped, elegant styling completed the extra élan. It was the last Porsche with a front engine, two doors and produced in small quantities.
All this makes this beautiful 968 Cabriolet Nachtblau very tempting. It looks stunning, helped by a €28,500 restoration in 2021 commissioned by its long-time owner. The 968 is one of the best 2+2 convertible sports cars of the last 30 years, and this one looks perfect for summer drives and road trips.

Mechanical
- 3-litre 4-cylinder M44 engine with 16 valves and variable valve timing
- 6-speed manual gearbox
- 40% self-locking differential
- Full service history
- Technical inspection in progress
- Recent mechanical work documented in photographs
The M44 was the latest evolution of Porsche's 4-cylinder M44 engine and it was very clever. 16 valves and variable valve timing gave the 968 performance that closely rivalled the contemporary 964 911. A new 6-speed manual gearbox improved gearshifts and high-speed cruising.
This car has been in the hands of its owner since March 1999. The photographs cover the history and indicate ongoing and expensive maintenance over the years. This includes extensive work in 2015 and more recently a body and mechanical restoration in 2021 and 2022.
