The Appeal

Built specifically for the US market, the 964 RS America was a lightweight, performance-focused variant of the 964-generation 911. It sat at around 80lbs lighter, thanks to the removal of its power steering and sound deadening.

The resulting car may have been less sophisticated, but it was incredibly potent. It sounded great, it handled well, it was fast and, of course, the fact the price cut off $10,000 compared to a standard 911 certainly helped. While only 701 were built, it had a lasting impact. Now, thirty years later, it's quite the exceptionally rare classic.

This fine, authoritative example features a Midnight Blue livery, a colour scheme carried by only 67 cars in the 1994 model year. It's a remarkably original car, too, with a well-recorded service history, the original Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the original Sales Tag.

Recently serviced and still offering the potent drive it always has, this is a supremely rare, highly desirable car that's well deserving of your attention. It's not often we see an RS America this side of the Atlantic, let alone in such an enviable condition, and we're expecting it to garner plenty of interest.

  • Highly original throughout

The Midnight Blue Metallic paintwork of this RS America suits it down to the ground. Perfectly capturing the 964's legendary lines, it's a sporty, rich yet distinctly rebellious hue, betraying its speed-driven aspirations to boot. This example has undergone a thickness test, certifying it as being factory paint, and looks in very good order.

The glasswork, lenses, badges and branding all reflect that same level of upkeep, and a look underneath shows a very solid, nicely kept car that's free from any significant corrosion that we can discern. No doubt about it - this is a superb looking car.

The cabin of this 964 is superb. As expected for an RS America, the cabin is free of sound deadening and door pockets. It's still a very comfortable place to be, though - the seats still look plush and comfortable, and the dashboard is very clean and well-presented, with very legible, bright instruments.

We understand everything to be working as it should, and the boot space is similarly very clean and well-presented, with lovely fresh looking carpets.

The Mechanics

  • 3.6-Litre 6-cylinder engine with 247 BHP and twin-plug ignition
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Power-vented disc brakes with ABS
  • Sport chassis with stabiliser bars, front and rear
  • Recently serviced with fresh oil and filters at an official Porsche Centre

The engine bay is clean, the engine's still running well and we've no reports of any mechanical issues. Offering plenty of high-octane performance courtesy of its lightened state, these cars are prized for their ability on the road, and this particular RS America is backed by an impressive service history for peace of mind.

It's recently been serviced, has a clean bill of health - and from what we've been informed, is ready and waiting to be driven away.
