The Appeal
Like many of new cars of its era, the R129 had a tough act to follow. Its predecessor, the R107, had been beloved worldwide and remained in production for over 17 years. Mercedes Benz design supremo, Bruno Sacco, was on hand to oversee proceedings, however. Appropriate to the dawn of the internet age, the R129 was packed with innovation and state-of-the-art electronic wizardry. The quality of the car’s build, fit and finish, to this day, represents the apogee of Mercedes Benz’s acknowledged prowess in this area.
This example has a lot going for it. It is in a highly original condition in a popular and eye-catching colourway. It has been lightly used and has been through the hands of a low number of owners for this age and type of car. The condition appears to be excellent, and the maintenance has clearly been well catered for and documented.
