The Appeal
Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts tend to split the firm’s development into the ‘engineer-led’ models and the later cars that have been driven more by the market. The last of the former, which were typified by exemplary quality and design, was the W140/C140 S-Class.
The C140 was a gargantuan undertaking. A big, over-engineered executive spaceship that showcased the firm’s cutting edge technology. Buyers could specify it with the firm’s super-smooth 6litre 389bhp V12 motor. Not that occupants would have known, cocooned as they were behind double glazed glass.
This very smart 1995 S600 shows why these sumptuous cars are so well regarded. High quality fittings abound, all well kept thanks to its fastidious owners. There is a thick history file and long MOT to verify the excellent condition shown in the photographs.
