The Background
The original XJ-S launched in 1975 after many years of development, to a somewhat lackluster response. Jaguar and British Leyland experienced many issues over the next decade and whilst the XJ-S remained in production, it was not the success the company needed. However when Ford bought Jaguar in 1989 things began to change, and fast. Ford updated the old production line with all new equipment and in 1991 gave the XJ-S a significant facelift, with significant mechanical changes and rebranding it the XJS.
This new XJS had much better build quality as well as all round improved styling, this combined with the mechanical improvements meant the XJS was finally the car Jaguar had always meant it to be. Production ended in 1996 and in the years since, the post 1991 XJSs have only become more sought after as the fantastic grand tourers that they are.
The History
The current owner bought the car in 2012 from a gentleman in London who was selling the car to finance his daughter's wedding. The car was used for regular trips from Bournemouth to London, but the owner has decided to sell the car as it’s not currently getting the use it deserves.
The Paperwork
There is a fair amount of paperwork with the vehicle, but due to the excellent condition it has been kept in, there has been no call for any major work with the exception of a gearbox rebuild. There are invoices for all of the servicing and any work that has been done. All work has been carried out at the recommended intervals and the original Jaguar owners manuals are included.
The Interior
The interior is in fantastic condition throughout with little visible signs of wear except for some wear to the driver's seat in the usual places as shown in the images and everything works exactly as it should. The leather, stitching and wood trim is all in very good condition and looks absolutely fantastic.
All of the details are very good, even the carpet in the boot looks great and the owner has fitted a genuine modern Jaguar radio/nav system, that looks perfectly at home in the car whilst providing you with all of the benefits of a modern system, the original radio is of course included with the car. This car is an exceptionally comfortable place to be and would make a fantastic tourer, for those looking to travel with style.

The Exterior
The exterior mirrors the condition of the interior in that it is excellent. With an instantly recognisable shape, low and long, the XJS is a car that makes an impression wherever it goes and this one is no exception. The paintwork and brightwork are all in very good condition and the car benefits from having had a respray in the original Kingfisher Blue.
The Mechanics
This XJS drives beautifully, mechanically this car is in fantastic condition and provides a smooth and luxurious driving experience. The big 6L V12 springs to life easily and sounds fantastic, the car cruises well and drives exactly as it should. Over the course of the most recent ownership the car has had new headers, catalytic converters and centre sections on the exhausts, a full gearbox rebuild, air conditioning system rebuild well as having a few choice upgrades fitted, namely all new adjustable dampers with Aston Martin coils and a new radiator with twin electric fans.
The car has been serviced meticulously with recent new pads and discs all round. There is a very slight leak from the power steering pump, however it’s only something that needs the occasional top up and doesn’t detract from the overall fantastic condition of this car.

The Appeal
The XJS is an iconic British GT car that's hard not to love, however finding the right one can be tricky. This is that one. In fantastic condition throughout, both mechanically and aesthetically with the best engine of all of the options and finished in what is possibly the best colour. This XJS provides a luxurious driving experience with a combination of refinement and panache that few other cars can equal.
With its elegant design and and big V12 this XJS is at home touring quaint coastal villages as it is cruising down the autobahn. We don’t often see such fine examples of these great Jaguars, bid quickly, this one won’t be around for long.
