The Appeal
If you’re in the market for one of Britain’s best GTs, equipped with one of the nation’s greatest petrol engines, then you’re in the right place. This very low mileage XJS is not only one of the later galvanised facelift cars, it has the rare 6litre 300bhp version of Jaguar’s superlative, super-smooth V12.
The XJS perfectly suits the engine because it is smooth, comfortable and relaxing. Thanks to its XJ saloon underpinnings, it delivers a mix of ride and handling few GT cars can match. These cars are perfect for country drives or longer trans-continental jaunts.
In this one it would be a pleasure to do either. The sparing use befits its rarity - we understand just 81 LHD 6litre cars like this one left the factory. It sports gold badging, which Jaguar often used to denote limited edition models.
The long term keeper brought it back with him when he emigrated to the UK in 2021. We are told there has been just one former keeper. It comes to market in very good condition indeed, the leather interior in particular reflecting the sparing, caring use. With full service history and along, advisory-free MOT, this is one of the best examples of what many see as the ‘ultimate’ XJS.
