The Appeal
The XJS needs no introduction, but a manual gearbox version? These cars are exceptionally rare - only 70 AJ16 4litre cars are believed to have been produced.
It is the gearbox many argue the XJS deserved. Its reputation is as a relaxing GT cruiser, but Jaguar’s long lived coupe, particularly the updated and improved final models, is also a very rewarding sports car. It handles well and is surprisingly nimble when pressed on. Jaguar must have agreed - the firm was the first owner of this car.
It is a factory manual model - confirmed by the JDHT certificate - that is appropriately finished in British Racing Green and has clearly been looked after. There are few signs of age and it benefits from recent improvements. These include a new front spoiler, five new alloys and quality Avon tyres, replacement boot struts and reconditioned leather interior. It was serviced and MOT’d just 200 miles ago.
