The Appeal
Any big Citroën is a thing to behold. German rivals may sell in greater volumes but the DS, CX, XM and C6 have all provided unparalleled ways to travel from A to B in comfort and serenity.
The XM took what was good about its forebears, such as the ‘magic carpet’ ride and luxury and added modern, chiselled wedge styling and advanced technology. It is increasingly regarded as a design classic.
And yet good, usable examples are exceptionally rare. This car was never a big seller in the UK so finding one now is a challenge for enthusiasts of these big, leftfield saloons. This one has survived. It is a well kept, very original top specification Prestige with the economical 2L petrol engine.
For the buyer this car presents as a very usable daily driver or there is scope to take it to the next level as a future show car. Recent work includes £1,179 spent in July 2023 on new catalysers and welding. The car comes to market with long MOT to July 2025 meaning that it is ready for the buyer to jump in and enjoy a driving experience quite unlike any other contemporary saloon.
