Pre-bids

1994 Cagiva Mito Evo I 125cc Eddie Lawson 7spd

Highlights

  • Rare Eddie Lawson Replica edition
  • Enhanced Lawson spec with 206bhp/litre
  • Original and unmodified rarity
  • Scintillating ride with Ducati-style looks

The Appeal

When Eddie Lawson began winning races for Cagiva, the firm celebrated with this bike. Based on the firm’s light and nimble Mito, it got more power - now at 206bhp/litre - thanks to modified porting, pistons, cylinder head, exhaust valve and carburettors. Lawson used one as a paddock bike - legend has it that its presence outside his trailer was the only way to tell if he was around.
The Lawson Replica is based on the Mito Evo I, which was redesigned by Massimo Tamburini and closely resembles his work on the iconic Ducati 916. It is a scintillating piece of kit that may have a small engine but isn’t for the faint of heart. The 7spd gearbox is there to maximise use of the 1,500rpm power band between 9.500rpm and 11,000 rpm.
This bike has lived in the Netherlands for all of its life, latterly as part of a collection where it was on display in the previous keeper’s living room. It is in very good, factory-correct and unmodified condition. The array of decals - which replicate Lawson’s racing Cagiva - are present and correct and well preserved.
Due to the sparing recent use the bike will need a check over before hitting the road. Whether you keep it to look at - and why wouldn’t you - or decide to return it to the road, this rare bike will be immensely rewarding.
