The Interior
- Luxurious leather interior
- Lots of wooden accents
- Bentley quality
- Great condition
- Electrically operated seats
Opening the large doors, you are presented with an extremely well put together cabin. Finished in the best leather available at the time of build, and deeply reflective wood capping’s it is one of the best places to be on the road.
If we start by looking at the seats fitted to this car, we can see that they are in great condition. The two rear seats look as if they have seen little use at all during their time, and the fronts aren’t too different either. The driver’s seat does show some bolster wear but there aren’t any rips or tears to the material.
The front seats are both electrically operated. With a simple touch of a button, they will glide forwards and back. They both also have another interesting feature. Pulling the top of the seat forward to allow rear passengers in they will also effortlessly glide forward electrically.
To match the cream leather seats a lot of the interior is also trimmed in matching light leather. With the door cards, headliner, and even parts of the dash presented in great condition, they match the seats well.
It’s not only leather that adorns the cabin of this wonderous car but there are also a lot of wooden elements. This very shiny and beautiful wood pulls the whole interior together making it feel more like an exclusive club lounge on wheels.
Towards the rear, there is a very sizeable boot that can easily fit a couple of weekend bags for those great get aways in the years to come. If you’re partial to a bit of golf you may just be able to get some golf bags back here.
You should be able to gather from the photos that the interior of this Bentley is not only presented very well but also ready for you to hop in and get adventuring.
The Exterior
- Understated exterior design
- Finished in a lovely deep green
- Good alloy condition
- Large two-door saloon
Unlike modern Bentleys that sometimes appear a little out there and maybe even garish, this modern classic Bentley is very understated in design. The long simple lines make for a car that is welcome anywhere and that will fly under the radar.
This example is presented in very nice exterior condition. Finished in a nice Racing Green colour it is almost the epitome of the Bentley brand. Upfront the large chrome grille sucks in enough air to keep the 6 3/4 litre V8 nice and cool. Set on either side of this grille are the twin headlight set-up, presented with no obvious chips, cracks, or hazing to the lenses these should beam out a nice stream of light on a dark evening.
On each corner you’ll find a well-presented 17” silver alloy it looks like this car has been kept well away from those pesky curbs that can sometimes cause a lot of damage. You’ll also be able to see that all of the tyres on the car are Avon Turbospeeds, this small detail of four matching tyres usually points towards a car that has been well looked after.
The exterior of this Bentley is presented well when you consider the age and fact that the car has been used and enjoyed by its current owner. Sure, over its life it may have picked up minor marks to the exterior, but these are part of the car’s history. You will be getting one great looking classic that’s for sure.
The Mechanics
- Good service history
- Nice out on the road
- Powerful V8 under the bonnet
- Automatic transmission
- Drives just like a Bentley should
Lifting the large bonnet, you are presented with the legendary 6 ¾ litre V8 that has powered many Bentley and Rolls Royce products over the years. This engine is a true workhorse it pulls the coach built body down the road with more than enough vigour.
Over the years the mechanical aspects of this Bentley have been seen to with care and attention. The service book provided does have a lot of stamps in it ranging from the first service to its most recent one in 2016. Since the last service, it has covered a tiny number of miles. The owner did mention that there was a slight oil leak, but it is apparently nothing major to worry about.
On the day of the photoshoot the car was running when we arrived, and it idled perfectly well throughout the shoot. Manoeuvring around the Vendors property was an ease thanks to the automatic gearbox. Slipping into drive and reverse positively it just does what it needs to do effortlessly.
The current owner did recount that this car is a bit of a beast out on the road. You might expect it to pottle and waft along the road but give it some beans and it’ll take off.
You should have a lot of fun getting in this car and taking it on some long journeys to some amazing destinations. There is nothing quite like driving a Bentley on the road, effortless and comfortable, you can’t lose.
Summary
Coach built by Mulliner Park Ward this Bentley Continental R is an exemplary motor vehicle. Filled with leather and wood the interior is like sitting in a well-furnished club lounge. Its understated exterior should give you an invitation to almost any event.
Getting behind the wheel of this modern classic luxurious saloon will always be an event that will live in your memory for a time to come. Don’t miss out on this excellent example.
