  • Excellent History
  • Perfect car for the Summer

The Background

First introduced in 1992, the Audi Cabriolet would offer consumers a stylish alternative to convertibles of the time, with superior build quality and reliability. Available with an assortment of engines over the years, the Audi Cabriolet initially sold at a steady pace, but was yet to take the market by storm.
Whilst it certainly didn’t blow critics away with its performance, the Audi Cabriolet provided fantastic German build quality, and developed a reputation for being a rather reliable platform. The roof mechanism, and the way it seamlessly folds down when not in use still impress to this day, and plenty of Audi Cabriolets are still tootling around Britain problem-free.
This particular cabriolet features the 2L inline 4 cylinder engine, which held true to the car’s reliable nature and provides the sleek convertible with modest performance. This car’s colour is Forest Green Pearl, a colour seldom seen on roads today and the very same made popular by Princess Diana.

The History

The current owner purchased this stunning cabriolet in February 2016, with just 43,028 miles on the clock. The car was supplied by a reputable dealer, who verified the vehicle’s low mileage and sent it on its way.
In the past six years, the car has only covered a mere 5,500 miles, treated to drives out on dry days and has enjoyed sunny road trips. Throughout the current owner’s possession, the car has been meticulously serviced and maintained, with full records of all work and history neatly compiled and logged in a spreadsheet.
The car was treated to a new set of tyres at 44K, a new Exide Premium battery at 45K and had a brake overhaul at 47K. The front section of the exhaust and catalytic converter were also replaced, along with a nearside front ball joint.
The current owner has now decided it is time for somebody else to enjoy this fantastic convertible and has ensured the car needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed for many more years to come.

The Paperwork

This Audi comes with an extensive amount of history and paperwork, which clearly reflects the amount of care given to the vehicle throughout its lifetime. The paperwork includes the original handbooks, V5C, stamped Audi service booklet, service history and maintenance invoices.
The paperwork also includes a list of work undertaken and the car’s history, carefully compiled by the current keeper. The list is complete with costs, specific descriptions and dates for all work and servicing. As mentioned earlier, the vehicle also comes with a long MOT until next February, ensuring stress-free motoring for many more miles to come. In addition to a great selection of paperwork, the car will also come with 2 keys.

The Interior

The interior of this Audi Cabriolet is in excellent condition and has clearly been well cared for over the years. Having covered so few miles for the vehicle’s age, the car’s cabin is clean, tidy, and shows no major signs of wear and tear. The two front seats are in great condition and have retained their shape and finish brilliantly. They’re quite comfortable too, and no doubt help provide an enjoyable experience on sunny drives out. The rear seats also appear to have barely been used, and could easily pass as like new.
As you would expect, the steering wheel, dashboard, and all associated controls are also in excellent condition, showing few signs of use when compared to other cars of the era. In the centre of the car, you’re treated to a sleek Sony head unit with a removable front, which pairs well with the speakers in both the front and rear. All gauges and dials are clear, free from marks and present the driver with vital information, including oil pressure, oil temperature and voltage.
Inside the boot, you can find the factory spare wheel, along with the original Audi air compressor to inflate the tyre should it ever be required. The boot carpets and trim pieces certainly follow suit with the rest of the vehicle’s interior and are in excellent condition.
The signature Audi build quality, modest styling and years of care combine to provide passengers with an exceptionally comfortable environment, perfect for cruising along and enjoying the journey.

The Exterior

It cannot be understated just how stunning this Forest Green Pearl paintwork truly is, as each flake catches the sunlight and gives the exterior a tremendous amount of depth. It’s arguably one of Audi’s greatest colours and was made popular by Princess Diana in the ’90s, often seen driving around in her very own Forest Green cabriolet.

The paintwork itself is in excellent condition for the vehicle’s age, with just one minor mark near the grille, and a tiny amount of lacquer peel on the passenger's door. Both of which are remarkably minor details, especially when you consider that the car is nearly thirty years old.
Being a cabriolet, it should come as no surprise that one of the main components of the exterior is the soft top, which is in great condition and has been well cared for. This version is the manually operated soft top which is cheaper and easier to maintain. The roof fabric has no splits or tears, and save for an ever slight amount of fading on the rear window, presents itself flawlessly. All exterior trim pieces and chrome are also in brilliant condition, with no major signs of wear on items like the original badging, Audi mud flaps or lights.
All four wheels are also in great condition and wear their original finish with pride. The wheels themselves are wrapped in a set of Yokohama C drive tyres, equipped just 4 thousand miles ago. The silver alloys offer a great deal of contrast against the sparkly Forest Green paint and suit the car perfectly.
Overall, the exterior of this car is in a condition that could quite easily fool you of the vehicle’s age, and will no doubt continue to hold its great looks for many more years to come thanks to its galvanised body. This cabriolet will look fantastic on your driveaway, as part of a collection or wherever you decide to adventure next.

The Mechanics

Buyers will be pleased to know that this gorgeous Audi Cabriolet starts up straight away, purrs nicely on idle and drives perfectly. Equipped with the popular 4 cylinder engine, the car has also held true to the model’s legendary reliability and needs nothing to be enjoyed by its new owner.
As a result of covering so few miles and experiencing a great deal of care from its owners over the years, the car has certainly needed nothing major in terms of maintenance or repairs. The history contains just typical items of maintenance such as new front lower wishbone bushes, a new battery, brake servicing, a new ball joint and a new exhaust system.
One fault that the current keeper wishes to share is that the driver’s switch to open the rear hood cover is currently not working. However, this can very easily be bypassed by using the manual levers located under the flaps on the o/s and n/s rear deck.
The car has also received regular servicing during its time on the roads, all of which has been carefully logged and specified by its current keeper. In terms of MOT, the car has a relatively clear history and now has a valid MOT up until next February.

The Appeal

The Audi Cabriolet was an immensely popular car in the mid-late 90s and offers a great balance of German engineering, brilliant reliability and classy styling. With the warm weather on the horizon, this Cabriolet is perfect for sunny drives out with the roof down, or would even serve as a stylish reliable daily driver for any motorist.
