The Appeal
What to do when your highly experienced team of craftsmen finds itself short of work? That was the dilemma facing Jaguar when the hand-built Daimler DS420 was withdrawn.
The solution resulted in this car. Jaguar’s ‘Insignia’ programme put that same skilled team at the service of XJ40 and XJS buyers who could bespoke their cars across paintwork and interior. The XJS Club reports that just 57 XJS were built this way, of which only seven were RHD examples.
This, then, is a very exclusive opportunity. The car is finished in bespoke lavender metallic - which was refreshed in 2015 - matched with a light cream leather interior piped in lavender. For those familiar with a XJS cabin, this one is quite different - the dashboard is leather-clad, the veneers are inlaid Birds Eye Maple and the carpets are from Wilton.
The car has been in the same family since 1997 and is only reluctantly for sale due to lack of use. There is a recent service and long, advisory-free MOT. The ‘JAG’ private plate is included.
The XJS is a motoring great. Grab this fascinating rarity now because you’re unlikely to find another any time soon.
The vendor tells us:
"Drives and feels great! Just as I remember it when travelling in it as a passenger with my father."
