Highlights
- Excellent opportunity for a get-in-and-go Jag, ready to tour
- Desirable facelift model, final iteration of the XJS line
- 4.0L AJ6 engine; XJS power and luxury while avoiding the thirst of the V12s
The Appeal
Originally called the XJ-S, Jag’s luxury grand tourer was manufactured from 1975 to 1996. With a 20-year production run the XJ-S has cemented itself in motoring history with its stunning combination of performance and luxury.
The final iteration—so-called the facelift model—was launched in 1991, and is often characterized by its updated name, shortened simply to “XJS”, and its slightly-updated styling. Also available with the facelift model was a new 4.0-litre version of Jaguar’s AJ6 straight-six engine to run alongside the V12s.
This example has been very well-kept by the current owner and is only being sold as it does not see as much use as they would like. Having enjoyed the car as it is, they’re reluctantly wanting to pass the car to a new owner to enjoy to its fullest. Prior to the current ownership, the car was a garage proprietor's pampered pet for 5 years and wanted for nothing—it has clearly been well looked after.
The garage owner eventually replaced it with the 6.0 V12 model, but said he wished he'd kept it. Many consider the facelift model to be the sweet spot of the entire XJS range—benefiting from the updated styling, but avoiding the plastic bumpers and cramped and rather pointless rear seats of the Celebration models, as well as the thirst of the V12s.

Summary
Presented in the desirable and highly complementary Diamond Blue paintwork with Pale Grey interior, this Jag is in excellent condition for its age, wants for nothing, and is eager to get back to cruising. With such strong character, this XJS—without any known missing interior elements or exterior trim on the vehicle—would only benefit from a deep clean to bring it to near-flawless presentation. Alternatively, it can be driven and enjoyed as it currently sits, a well-preserved example of the last iteration of one of Jaguar’s most successful and longest-running luxury grand tourers.
