The Appeal

Around the world the name Jaguar is one synonymous with luxury class and style, but for those familiar with the marque, the addition of just two more letters makes everything that bit more special. The letters in question, XJ.
With a silky smooth straight six engine paired to a marvellous automatic transmission, the XJ is very much the last word in luxurious motoring at a great price and remains one of the most popular choices for those in the market for a high quality executive cruiser.
The example we are presented with here is arguably one of the most exciting and unique to be brought to market in a considerable amount of time.

Originally a demo car, then sold to just a handful of owners, amassing incredibly low miles before being brought forward into the light of day from storage for the first time in some two decades, it is fair to say that this is a very special Jaguar, and one that is accompanied by an incredibly interesting story.

The History and Paperwork

 • Original Jaguar service book with stamped Jaguar services prior to being put in storage
 • Original Jaguar handbook pack
 • Supplying dealer (HA Fox) keyring and sticker
 • MOT until November 2022
The story of the history of this Jaguar is rather a unique one. Starting back upon first registration as a demo car in July 1993, at which point the car bore the registration mark K209 LHP and was subsequently sold to the 2nd owner (Mr Dow) in October 1993 when it then had the private plate A19 DOW assigned.
The new Owner took delivery of his car and used it until January 1996 by which time the car had only covered 24,200 miles and was parked in his garage to be used by him for the last time.

There the car remained unused until it was subsequently discovered in October of 2021, 25 years later and still with just 24,200 miles from new.
The car was then recommissioned and serviced, 4 new tyres were fitted, a new battery and then in November 2021 it was put through its very first MOT. Since November of 2021 the car has covered a few hundred miles and now shows just 24,800 genuine miles

The Interior

 • Saville grey leather upholstery
 • Factory fitted sunroof
 • Good quality wood finish trim pieces
Always a statement piece on Jaguars, the cabin of this XJ sticks true to form, the ocean of sumptuous leather and wood trim is an utter feast for the eyes. In such remarkable unmarred condition, one could easily be tricked into thinking the car had never left the factory in 1993.
The marvellous seating both front and rear, coated in rich Saville grey leather is in wonderful order, being such a low mileage car, these seats are naturally lacking in the wear so commonly found on the bolsters and cushioning on the higher mileage examples of these super cruisers.
The real eye catcher in the front of the cabin is of course the vast wood finish trim piece slotted into the dashboard, a true sign that one is in a quality automobile, the wood veneer has a truly excellent shine to it and looks perfectly nestled within the car.

The wood motif continues its way into the centre console which is of an equally good standard.
Up top sits a clean well trimmed roof liner, within which sits the factory fitted sunroof which opens fully.  At the bottom we find a plush carpeting draping its way across the cabin floor and looking to the sides, we find four smart door panels, with clean grey and black leather alongside excellent wood veneer and chrome embellishments.
The other pieces of wood trim and switchgear dotted around the cabin naturally conform to the same high standard, as does the leather steering wheel and wheel mounted buttons. It is great to see the icons and text printed on the buttons still bold and not faded and blank as a result of years of hard usage.

The Exterior

 • Steel grey metallic paintwork
 • Excellent aesthetic order
 • Clean original condition
 • Chrome trim and bumpers
There’s a certain level of envy exuded from others on the road when they see an XJ wafting past them on the road, and looking at the car from the outside it’s clear to see why.

The brilliant design, with its classic styling cues and iconic front end oozes class without being brash, there is always a subtle knowledge that whoever is behind the wheel of an XJ knows a thing or two about style and quality.
Finished in a marvellous steel grey metallic paint scheme, this XJ is no exception to this notion. Benefiting from dry storage and very limited usage throughout its lifetime, the car presents fabulously, the paintwork is of a good standard with a brilliant shine exuding from all angles.

The wonderful adornments of chrome trim and badging is of a good standard, however it should be noted that there is some speckling to be seen on the rear bumper and door handles, though the current owner informs that four replacement door handles and a rear bumper corner will accompany the car upon sale should the new owner wish to install these.
At ground level we find four great Jaguar wheel trims, all of which are somewhat unsurprisingly, in great condition, having been so well preserved throughout the car’s lifetime all four of these sit on new tyres which were fitted once the car was taken out of storage in late 2021. A fifth spare wheel is found under a bespoke cover in the well trimmed boot area.
The car is currently on a private registration A19 DOW, which the current owner informs will accompany the car with the sale.

The Mechanics

 • Great six cylinder engine
 • Automatic transmission
 • Recommissioned after being taken out of storage
Opening the bonnet, one would be forgiven for questioning whether the car had done 2 thousand miles let alone the 24 thousand miles it actually has done.

We find an incredibly clean example of Jaguar’s legendary 3.2 litre straight six shoehorned into the front of the XJ, boasting clean plastics and ancillaries, the car, courtesy of its consistent regular maintenance prior to being put into storage, followed by light recommissioning once taken back out, the XJ is in wonderful mechanical order.
The tracking was recently done and at this time a full inspection of the Jag’s underside was carried out, which highlighted just how clean the car is underneath. However, it was noted by the technician who did the tracking that the right hand gator on the steering rack had a split and will need replacement.

Summary

A beautiful car in fabulous condition with exceptionally low mileage. This XJ is an undoubtedly special car. Boasting low miles, low owners and presenting in near timewarp condition, there may be no finer XJ on the market at present.
This is a fast appreciating classic that will make a wonderful addition to anyone’s collection or wedding car fleet.
