1993 Ferrari Mondial T

Highlights

  • Superb service history
  • Performs brilliantly
  • Mostly original
  • Rare Medio Blue
  • Very rare specification

The Appeal

As the final and most powerful model from the Mondial lineup, this Mondial t stands as one of Ferrari’s greatest creations. In fact, the Mondial t coupe marks the last 2+2 mid-engined, rear-wheel drive V8 model from Ferrari. As if the Mondial itself wasn’t quite rare enough, it is believed that just 54 RHD models were produced in the guise, with an even fewer 5 vehicles finished in Medio blue.
As a result, this is a truly rare vehicle in the UK, with the likelihood of seeing a similar example out on the roads being near impossible. To this car’s added praise, the vehicle retains a mostly original finish, performs spectacularly, and showcases one of the finest service and maintenance records going.
If you’re looking for a beautiful Ferrari to add to your collection or a rare exotic weekend toy, this is the car for you.

The History and Paperwork

  • Well maintained example
  • Recently re-commissioned
  • Inspections welcome
  • 2 sets of keys
  • Superb servicing and maintenance history
  • Full year’s MOT
  • Over £46,000 on invoices
  • Original handbooks & documents
  • V5C document present
This Mondial t was originally supplied to Evans Halshaw of Birmingham in August 1993, as supported by the included documentation. The vehicle was then no doubt enjoyed by former keepers, being well maintained along the way and later receiving a documented speedometer change at 45,166 miles. Combined, both the old and replacement speedometer combine for a total mileage of 65,527 miles.
Over the years, the vehicle has been maintained to a very high standard, now boasting an enormous stack of previous invoices for maintenance, consumables, and servicing. Also included with the vehicle is the original leather-bound toolkit, original leather book pack (complete with up-to-date service stamps), original manuals, 2 sets of keys, and the V5C document.
With such a superb collection of documented history, it is hard to believe you will find a better-documented example in today’s market. The current keeper would also like to make buyers aware that any inspection prior to the auction finishing is welcome, including a test drive if required.

The Interior

  • Mostly original interior
  • Fantastic condition
  • Cream leather
  • Sunroof
  • Electric windows
  • Central locking
  • 3-spoke steering wheel
  • Alpine head unit
The interior of this Ferrari Mondial t is in superb condition, clearly benefitting from years of care and preservation. It's a cabin that embodies everything we love about this era of Ferrari; the signature 3-spoke steering wheel, sleek dashboard components, mechanical shifter, and superb build quality. This vehicle is easily some of Pininfarina’s absolute finest work.
The leather interior contrasts beautifully against the blue exterior, and gives this Mondial a very bright, spacious cabin, further aided by the sunroof. All seats are in excellent condition for their age, showing only the most minor signs of wear noticeable upon incredibly close inspection. As pictured, there is certainly very little room to fault how the seats present themselves today.
Throughout the cabin, you’re treated to a welcome mixture of tasteful blue carpeting, and more cream leather trim components. It’s certainly a very well co-ordinated interior, offering a much more unique aesthetic over the typical black-on-black cabins often seen with sports cars. All dashboard components, both door cards, headlining, and carpeting throughout show very few signs of age, with even the controls within the cabin showing very few signs of use on contact points.

The Exterior

  • Mostly original exterior finish
  • Incredible rare Medio Blue paintwork
  • Iconic 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Classic Ferrari styling
  • Pop-up headlights
The Mondial has aged like fine wine, now showing off some of Ferrari’s finest retro styling and classic body lines. In contrast to the typically common red Ferraris of the era, this Mondial t shows off a very rare colour, believed to have only been applied to just 5 vehicles of the specification.
The paintwork itself is in excellent condition for its age, retaining a mostly original finish. There are of course minor signs of age to note, such as an incredibly minor bubble on the boot lid, and the expected touched-in stone chips. That being said, these are very difficult to notice, and hardly detract from the stunning finish that has managed to be preserved here.
Completing the retro Ferrari styling checklist, are the sleek side vents, desirable pop-up headlights, and those ever-iconic Ferrari 5-spokes. The wheels are in fantastic condition, other than a minor amount of curbing noticeable upon close inspection. Adorned with Ferrari centre caps, these iconic wheels truly do complete the retro look of this legendary sports car.
Overall, it is very difficult to fault how this now nearly 30-year-old Ferrari presents itself. The rare factory finish has been very well preserved, as have the wheels, badging, lights, and exterior trim components, now setting this Mondial t aside as a superb example.

The Mechanics

  • 3.4L V8
  • 5-speed manual
  • Performs brilliantly
  • Excellent maintenance history
  • Larini exhaust
  • New Iridium spark plugs
  • Recently serviced
  • Ready to be enjoyed
  • Fantastic build quality
As previously mentioned, the Mondial t was the most powerful from the Mondial lineup and showcased some of Ferrari’s finest techniques & technology. The Mondial t featured power-assisted steering, electronically adjustable suspension, and ABS as standard, resulting in a vehicle that still feels very capable on modern roads. A longitudinally mounted engine earns the vehicle its “T” and provides easier access for servicing.
This particular example does Ferrari proud, even to this day. The vehicle fires up right away and performs without a single known mechanical or electrical fault. Other than a welcome aftermarket Larini exhaust to let the V8 sing, the vehicle also shows off an original finish, retaining its original mechanical components where possible. Equally impressive, quirky features like the adjustable suspension and pop-up headlights perform perfectly, despite the vehicle’s age.
As the included abundance of paperwork indicates, this vehicle has been absolutely treasured by previous owners and maintained with no expense spared. Invoices detail key work such as cambelts, aux belts, valve clearances, brakes, suspension work, clutch kit, the expected consumables such as NGK Iridium spark plugs and much more. This is easily one of the better-maintained examples on the market, even boasting a fully stamped service booklet.

Summary

This Ferrari Mondial t presents buyers with a superb opportunity to own an incredibly rare vehicle, that benefits from one of the finest maintenance and servicing records going.

The vehicle has been treasured over the years, and now presents itself in superb condition, ready to be enjoyed as part of a collection, or as a thoroughly enjoyable weekend toy.
