1992 Saab 900 2.0 16V XS Manual

  • Low mileage of less than 94,000 miles

The Appeal

Saab’s engineers were clever. Stretching the nose and tail of the aging 99 created the 900 of the mid-80s, a car so good that it continued in production right up to the doorstep of the new Milennium.
Distinctive styling, a big boot, unburstable engines and the absence of anything else on the market quite like it made the 900 popular then and enduring now. Non-Turbo models like this ultra rare XS work well as reliable daily drivers and characterful classics. Yet that sheer usability makes very good, low mileage examples like this one thin on the ground.
The XS was a special edition with extra specification built for 1992 only. Ths car’s story is well documented in its bulging history file back to day one when it was bought by the previous keeper. It even retains the dealer plates, key fob and stickers and her 900-appropriate registration combined with her initials. Always stored in a heated garage and sparingly used, it is highly original in Iridium Blue metallic and has reportedly never been restored or welded.
The buyer, therefore, gets a very tidy classic 900 that could be pressed into service as a comfortable, reliable and economical daily or with a little effort has the makings of a show star.  With and recent service and MOT to April 2025 it is certainly ready to drive away.
The vendor tells us:
Just be prepared to chat to everyone about the Saab 900s that they or their parents once had and all of the happy memories that came with it. The car not only puts a smile on your face when driving it but everyone you pass over a certain age too !! I look forward to answering any questions regarding the car.”

The vendor describes driving the car:
“To drive this car is very special, you drive it at a pace which the car deserves out of respect. However the performance is still very much there. It is crisp to accelerate with perfect, smooth gear changes and just a joy to drive in all settings, it's apparent that the car has never seen any hard work or misuse over the years.”

We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own  full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
