The Appeal

We can thank the DB7 for the XJS’ early 90s ‘stay of execution.’ Ford canned Jaguar’s drawn-out plans for its replacement and gave the designs to Aston. A consequence was this car, the facelifted XJS - the name no longer hyphenated - with galvanised body, updated aesthetics and revised engines.
In typical Jaguar fashion, there wasn’t a wholesale, overnight switch from old to new designs. It was more of an evolution, which resulted in this car, the ‘transition’ facelift model that contains elements of the new design - most notably the rear lights, updated interior and galvanised body - with the chrome bumpers of the earlier car. This blend and the low production volumes make these cars popular with aficionados.
This car received a full bodywork restoration a few years ago so presents now in good bodily and paintwork order, finished in popular Arctic Blue. The tyres and blue fabric roof were replaced a couple of years ago. It looks good outside and the grey leather interior is in fair order, but may benefit from cosmetic improvement as you use and enjoy it.
The car will need MOT before hitting the road, but has covered just 38 miles since the last test, which was passed without advisories in 2022. If you’re looking for an interesting project for summer motoring, this one looks straightforward. The distinctive plate is included.
