The Appeal
When the E-type entered production in 1961, it was a six-cylinder sports car. But by the time production ended in 1974, it had morphed into a 12-cylinder grand tourer. That’s why, when the time came to replace it, the XJ-S was a purpose-made GT, designed with long-distance comfort in mind.
Relaunched in 1991 following Ford’s acquisition of Jaguar, the XJS, (now minus the hyphen), would go on to feature the new 4.0-litre AJ6 engine and that’s exactly what we have here. This pristine 1992 example has just 55,276 miles on the clock and benefits from full service history. No advisories have been recorded during the past five consecutive MOT tests and the vendor will arrange a fresh MOT in readiness for the next lucky owner. It even has new Pirelli tyres, so will be ready to enjoy right away.
Seldom does one encounter such a remarkably well-preserved XJS as this. It’s fit to grace any collection and reportedly drives as well as it looks.
