Highlights
- Just 4 former keepers
- Excellent practicality
- Previously resprayed
- Potentially low mileage
The Appeal
The P100 is a true nod to retro Fords, with early trucks modeled on the Cortina platform, and later the Sierra. This, of course, is one of the later examples that use the Ford Sierra as a base and proved out to be quite a success back in their day. Buyers may perhaps recall seeing these trucks on the roads, particularly as workhorses for the trades. Nowadays, they’re an incredibly rare vehicle, with many examples having fallen to age over the years.
This particular example presents a fantastic opportunity to own one of these retro pickups, be that for a collection piece or a practical commuter/workhorse. The truck benefits from previous rust repairs, maintenance, and a respray, now standing in a rather impressive condition for its age.

The History and Paperwork
- 4 former keepers
- Previously partially restored
- MOT until June 2023
- V5C document present
This P100 is a rather interesting example, as the vehicle currently shows just shy of 18k on the clock. Previous MOT history from 2006 onwards seemingly supports the low mileage figure shown, although it is currently unknown whether the mileage has been round the clock. The interior and condition of electrical connectors lead the current owner to believe this may indeed be genuine, although difficult to verify. Either way, the vehicle has no doubt been enjoyed over the years, and impressively shows just 4 former keepers.
The previous owner of the vehicle is believed to have partially restored the vehicle, treating the truck to rust repair, underseal, and a fresh new coat of paint. Although service history is rather minimal, there is also evidence of prior maintenance and repairs, as shown by the included invoice, which highlights rust repair, brake repairs, and more.
Throughout its time with the current keeper, the vehicle has covered rather few miles, spending the majority of its time in storage and at the garage. As further explained in the “mechanics” section, the car also received a great deal of attention to resolve a smoking issue. It is only really due to lack of use that the quirky truck now awaits a new home, where it will hopefully be used as intended.
The Interior
- Good condition for its age
- Practical truck bed with a rubber liner
- Full operational tailgate
- Central locking
This P100 shows off a modest and practical interior, with space for just two passengers. However, what the cab lacks in space is wholly excused by the generously sized truck bed in the rear. The bed features a rubber liner, and with a fully operational tailgate, offers excellent practicality and space.
As the vehicle is now 30 years old, there are of course signs of wear and age to be expected within the cabin. Perhaps most notably, the inner kickplates show their fair share of age, as does the driver’s side door card. Although the door card material is perhaps beyond repairing, a fair deal of the dirt and discolouration would be greatly helped by a thorough detail.
The seats, on the other hand, show far less signs of usage than you’d perhaps expect with a truck this age. As it is believed to be quite unlikely that these are replacement units, these seats could further support the low mileage shown. In fact, with a good detail, these seats would easily be capable of fooling you of their age, as they show only minimal signs of wear otherwise.
It should be noted that the glovebox handle is broken, and the radio doesn’t currently work. Otherwise, all electrical components, controls, and instruments are believed to be in full working order.

The Exterior
- Resprayed exterior
- Good condition respective of age
- Rollover & front bash bar included
Although rather minimal, the exterior shows off a very unique shape, packed with Sierra-inspired styling. It’s certainly a shape seldom seen on the roads today and never fails to turn heads wherever it ventures.
This particular example benefits from a full respray, courtesy of the previous owner. Although a shade lighter than the original colour, the paintwork suits the truck well and helps the exterior show as few signs of age as possible. That being said, there are minor defects to be expected around the truck, including paint peel on the tailgate, scuffs to the front bumper, the expected stone chips from use, small dents, and a few minor scratches.

Upon close inspection, there are visible signs of corrosion to the lower edges between the bed and the cab, seemingly extending to the lower sills too. As previously mentioned, the inner kick plates would also benefit from light rust removal and fresh paint. The steel wheels would also benefit from a refurbishment, although there is plenty of tyre tread left to enjoy.
Overall, the truck presents itself in an attractive, yet perfectly usable manner. Thanks to the repainted exterior, you could quite easily enjoy this as a collection piece, yet also feel comfortable using the vehicle for work purposes without the worry of perfect paintwork.
As an added bonus, the current keeper will also include the pictured front bash bar, and rollover bar. Believed to be rather rare, these pieces would no doubt transform the truck’s appearance once refurbished.
The Mechanics
- 1.8 turbo diesel
- Manual gearbox
- Performs well
- New diesel pump
- Replacement engine mounts
- Repaired starter motor
- Stripped and rebuilt rear brakes
- Machined front brake discs & new pads
- Central locking fitted
- Additional model correct 1.8T spare engine included
Equipped with the trusty 1.8 turbo diesel lump, this P100 is still a practical and dependable truck, that would gladly tackle regular usage. The truck has had its fair share of maintenance in the past, receiving the likes of a rebuilt starter, new brakes, and engine mounts. In order to resolve the smoking issue, the current owner also had a new fuel pump fitted, which has solved the prior problem.
The current owner would like to make buyers aware that reverse can be rather temperamental to engage at times, and there is a minor issue on startup. According to the current keeper, the vehicle fires up the first time, runs for 10 seconds or so, and then cuts out. But the vehicle will then start up again with the turn of the key, and continue running faultlessly. Although this is seemingly only a minor inconvenience, it may require attention moving forward.
Otherwise, there are no known mechanical or electrical issues to report, and this truck requires nothing to be enjoyed!
Summary
This P100 offers buyers the rare opportunity to own a retro Ford pickup, seldom seen on modern roads. This quirky truck benefits from a good deal of previous maintenance, rust repair, and a full respray.
Now presented in great condition for its age, this P100 would make the perfect quirky collection piece or practical workhorse.
