The Appeal
It's hard to say if Volkswagen really expected their Golf to completely dominate the '80s and '90s, but it certainly did. The hot-hatch continues to be one of the most consistently engaging formulas on the planet, and the second generation Golf was still proving remarkably popular even in its final year - and that square-nosed styling? Utterly timeless.
This particular 1991 example has been converted to the charismatic spec of the Corrado G60, and now carries the 1.8-Litre, 8-valve power unit under the bonnet, with an original G-Lader charger design that has been rebuilt and modified to Jabbasport Stage 4 Quite a way to transform an already perky car's character!
Combine that with its blue metallic paintwork, fine condition and impressive stock of paperwork and you've got a unique, striking car to live up to a pure petrolhead legend.
The vendor says:
"I bought this as I have always loved VWs, and the Mk2 GTI has been a firm favourite, especially in the BBM big bumper.
Every change I have made to the car has been sympathetic to the original OEM Mk2 golfs or to the '90s, to make it a vehicle that steps back in time. The second glances when you drive through a high street always remind you why you own this. When you drive it, the noise of the supercharger is a one-off and will be sorely missed when it's gone, but it's time for a change.
I think the combination of the engine, interior and exterior colour is a real head turner and combination that will always be highly desired."
