The Appeal
While it would go by many names during its 36 years in Toyota's range, the 'Mark II' was the firm's mid-size sedan offering from 1968 to 2004, proving immensely successful.
Here we have a Japanese home market 'X80' Mark II from 1991 which is now registered in the UK. This high-performance 2.5 GT Twin Turbo boasts the highest trim level and wears the coveted “GT" badge - identifying it as of the JZX81 family of cars.
This car was manufactured at a time when the Toyota Motor Company and its fellow JDM automakers were enjoying the height of their ‘bubble period’ (1988-1998) and purposefully made a statement that when it came to producing vehicles to ‘thrill the world’ in terms of reliability, durability, practicality and more so affordability. With revolutionary safety and luxury features combined, they were second to none.
The very reliable 1JZ-GTE engine is renowned the world over for its durability, rev-happy nature and horsepower potential. It was, (and still is to this day), a popular choice and a winning platform used in the drifting and circuit racing scenes. Its mighty ‘Big Brother’, Toyota’s flagship 2JZ-GTE engine powers the Legendary MKlV Supra Twin Turbo and needs no introduction…

This car looks fantastic, with all panels displaying equal gaps and is free from any damage except for a few stone chips here and there, with excellent original alloy wheels all shod with new tyres. All the rubber seals are good and free from any cracking, with all windows and lights are free from any cracks, though the tinted glass sunroof looks like it is beginning to delaminate.
The original paintwork had suffered from some heat rash out in sunny Japan with all horizontal surfaces requiring some attention to restore the faded and blistered paint. This work has now been completed to a very good standard and the car looks fantastic.
Apart from a sportier-looking steering wheel, brake and accelerator pedal covers, is still in the original factory spec.
The interior has withstood the test of time very well and other than some wear to the gearshift leather the whole interior is in very good condition with no cracks in the dashboard and all the electrics and switches all work as they should.
