The Appeal
After over a decade of faithful service as a utilitarian go-anywhere model, in 1990 Mercedes-Benz announced a new G-Wagon. The W463 took its cues from its closest rival, the Range Rover, with a clear push upmarket.
There was a new chassis, plus ABS and a revised interior, but otherwise the aesthetics were familiar. While later evolutions of the W463 increasingly leaned into the luxury theme, early cars offered a more balanced blend of opulence and utility.
This early W463 reflects that balance. It sports an appealing specification of subtle black exterior and powerful 3litre M103 straight six petrol engine plus some choice factory options like rear benches.
Maintained to a very high standard with full service history and long MOT, this is a German 4x4 that will be as at home in Chelsea as ploughing across the Cotswolds countryside.
