The Appeal

The interesting thing about Mercedes-Benz' SL class is that it's effectively free of competition. The "Sport-Leicht" class really is more of a Grand Tourer class than a sports car, but it can't be denied that they're fast on their feet and take the roadster formula about as far as it can go. There really hasn't been a failure in this line, and one of the biggest successes of all has to be this - the R129.
