The Appeal
The 348 had a lot to live up to. It was a follow-up to the iconic 328 and launched in the shadow of the Testarossa. The new car cleverly channelled the style of both, including the side strakes that made its big brother so distinctive. It was the last car developed by Enzo.
Early cars were not as expertly developed as Ferrari buyers expected. The firm quickly rectified the issues, making later cars like this one highly regarded by contemporary reviewers and modern buyers. That can make the 348 something of a hidden gem, perhaps overlooked by those who haven’t experienced one.
Classically finished in Rosso Corsa over black leather, this beautifully presented 348 Traversale Spider is a timely reminder of how evocative these cars are. It is in very good condition inside out, reflecting the sparing use by its two keepers since 2002. It even retains the hand-crafted leather tool box.
Recently removed from long term storage, this is a very good example of a car that Ferrari aficionados are increasingly returning to.

As a TS this car has the versatile Targa style roof with its black removable panel. There are few of the common scratches and scuffs you might expect from this process. The car is factory standard and original and even comes with the desirable leather-bound, hand-crafted factory tool kit.
The Mechanics
- 3,405cc 32V quad cam V8 ‘Dino’ engine
- 290bhp output
- 5spd manual ‘dogleg’ gearbox
- History and MOTs verify mileage
- No reported running or driving issues
- Cam belts recently replaced
The 348 chassis and body may have been all new but under the bonnet there was Ferrari’s familiar - and iconic - DIno V8. Tracing its lineage back to the late 1950s, this remarkable power plan now featured 32 valves, quad-cam layout and delivered 290bhp.
In this car it is mated to a 5spd manual gearbox with ‘dogleg’ first. Later 348s like this one benefitted from significant improvements to the handling and driveabilty over earlier cars, and as a result are well regarded.
The low mileage on this car is verified by the service and MOT history. It wil require a fresh MOT before being driven but with few miles since the last test and no advisories back then, that should be a formality.
