THE APPEAL
The Alfa Romeo Spider is one of the most beautiful convertibles ever created and when the Italian marque unveiled its new convertible to the world in 1966, it was a sensation. The Duetto or Boat Tail Spider was a stunning piece of automotive design and the Spider model, which went through 4 revisions, would stay in production until 1993.
In 1990 Pininfarina was given the honour to update the now 24 year old Spider for one last outing. The refresh added smoother body coloured bumpers and a revised tail end with slim line rear lights. Fuel injection, power steering and electric windows added to the modern upgrades, with air conditioning also available.
The example on sale with Car and Classic is a 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider S4, which benefits from the rare air conditioning option and is believed to have been sold in Japan.
