The Appeal
Rarely does a difficult second album trump the original. But that’s exactly what the Mk2 Golf GTI did. Yes, it was more grown up, but that meant it was better in almost every respect.
Such is the popularity and enthusiasm for these cars that good, original examples are a rare sight. Particularly later ‘big bumper’ cars like this one. First registered in August 1990, it remained with the same keeper ever since.
The result of that continuous ownership is a highly original, largely unmodified car - the only variation from standard is a stainless steel exhaust - and a truly vast history file. Maintenance highlights include continuous servicing and an engine rebuild 20,000 miles ago. It was last serviced only 1,300 miles ago in July 2023.
The advisory-free MOT runs to August 2025, underlining the firm impression of a very well kept and attractive example of these hugely capable hot hatches.
