The Appeal
In its long history there have been Golf GTIs and then there have been Golf GTIs. Which is to say that some are rated higher than others. Like this, the 16V 130bhp Mk2.
Multiplying the engine valves added more power and transformed the Mk2 into a pointable, powerful hot hatch to match the Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. Aficionados rate certain specifications and three doors, big bumpers and Oak Green paintwork are right up there.
This factory standard 1990 car ticks every one of those boxes. Which may explain why the current keeper added it to his private collection some years ago. It has been sparingly used since and comes to market in good, usable order.
There is scope to improve the cosmetics, if you wish, but the long MOT means it is ready to jump in and enjoy.
