It has clearly been cared for throughout its life, with low mileage, beautiful bodywork and a clean, original interior in excellent order.

The History and Paperwork
- V5 in current owner’s name is present
- MOT until November 2022
- Recent invoice for new front lower suspension arms and braking system maintenance
- Sills replaced recently
Prior to the current custodian taking ownership in 2014, it was owned for at least 10 years by a Porsche engineer who worked for the official
Porsche franchise dealership in Glasgow. Both of these owners have gone to great lengths to keep this 944 in excellent shape, with bundles of invoices for parts and maintenance dating back over 20 years.

The most notable recent invoices are for replacement of both front lower suspension arms as well as other small items pertaining to the braking and electrical systems.
Pleasingly for any enthusiast owner, the original driver’s manual, service book and other bits of period paperwork are neatly stored away in a Porsche branded wallet, believed to be original to the car.

The Interior
- Fantastic condition throughout
- No noticeable rips, tears or scratches to speak of
- Original genuine Porsche floor mats
- All major electrical controls functioning correctly
On the inside, this 944 is in wonderfully original condition, with the seats, door cards and dashboard holding up fantastically well to 32 years of use, with very slight fading on the seat proving to be the only minor indications as to the car’s age.
All of plastics are in excellent order too, while the steering wheel shows only very minor signs of wear.

All of the switchgear works including the lights (which turn on with the ignition), gauges, wipers, heater, electric mirrors, electric windows and electric sunroof.
Carpets, headlining and other bits of trim are in really good condition, with no rips, tears or marks on any of them. The genuine Porsche floor mats and leather gear lever are the only real worn items inside the cabin, both of which are easily replaced should the new owner desire.
Inside the boot it is nice and tidy with the carpets and factory-fitted tonneau cover in great shape. Underneath the carpet is tidy too, and is home to a jack, tool kit and spare wheel.
The only real modification on the inside is what looks to be an Alpine aftermarket stereo, fitted in 2000, which doesn’t work. The 6-CD changer inside the glovebox is said to be functional, however.
The electric seats work as they should.
The Exterior
- Sills recently replaced
- All body panels are nice straight with no major scratches or dents
- Glass, trim, wheels are in excellent condition
Porsche really knows what it’s doing when it comes to painting cars, and here the stunning Guards Red paintwork has stood the test of time incredibly well, remaining bright and shiny even though it’s now more than 30 years old.
The car also sports four pristine original Porsche alloy wheels, which must have been refurbished in the not too distant past and really do set the car off nicely.
Generally, the exterior of the car is in absolutely fantastic condition, only stopping short of concours levels due to a few minor paint blemishes and chips here and there, most notably on the front valance – see pictures.
A small crack in one of the taillights is the only rear major exterior fault to note, as there are no significant scratches or dents anywhere on the paintwork.
The glass is all perfect, the roof is in good order and pops up electrically as it should, as do the pop-up headlights.
The Mechanics
- Drives extremely well, has been very well maintained
- Unmodified example
- Recent brake refresh and new lower suspension arms
- New battery
The MOT runs until November 2022, and with the last test making a note of the tyres being close to the legal limit, the vendor suggests four new tyres would be a good first job for the new owner as well as potentially some new brake discs.
Because of the very low number of miles covered every year the engine has been serviced every two years in recent times, and a new battery has been fitted.
On the mechanical side, the 944 is said to drive beautifully with the lovely 3.0-litre four-cylinder engine starting on the button and purring away gently at idle and maintaining temperature as it should.
Out on the road it’s a strong performer, with smooth, throaty acceleration with no untoward noises coming from either the engine or five-speed gearbox, as you would expect of a low-mileage, well-maintained car.
Handling is the best part of the well-balanced 944 and this example is no exception, with great steering, suspension and brakes.
Lifting the bonnet reveals a very genuine engine bay, with no obvious squeaks or leaks to speak of. It’s not pristinely clean under there, and would benefit from a bit of tidying in this area. But it is very honest and original.
The owner states while the underside does have some surface rust it is solid overall, with no holes or major damage to note, which is partially as result of it being kept in a garage.
To get the 944 perfect and protect it for the future, it would need to be cleaned up and treated.

Summary
This is an extremely well cared-for example of a low mileage 944 S2, which has been fastidiously maintained throughout its lifetime.
Presenting extremely well in Guards Red, the body and paintwork are in tremendous shape, as is the interior, and it drives beautifully, too.

Having only driven around 1,000 miles in the past 8 years, the vendor felt it was time for someone else to enjoy this excellent example of a modern classic Porsche.
