1990 Porsche 944

Highlights

  • Very impressive file of invoices and MOT certificates
  • Nicely appointed interior with leather seats
  • Deep blue paintwork with blue trim

The Appeal

Introduced in 1982, and kept in production for nearly a decade, the Porsche 944 was a smash hit for the company - and for good reason. With its impressive 3.0L powerplant, sharp handling, and those all-important pop-up headlights, it quickly gained a reputation as a very capable sports car.
This example has been kept in dry storage and is mechanically solid, with a clean MOT and a ton of invoices. It is a solid contender for any collection.

The History and Paperwork

  • Valid MOT until November 2023 with no advisories
  • Currently SORN and kept in dry storage
  • Very extensive file of invoices dating back to at least 1994
  • Impressive collection of previous MOT certificates

The Interior

  • A well-appointed interior in leather
  • Seating in good condition throughout with no visible tears
  • Some cracking to the dashboard wrapping but otherwise clean and well-presented
  • Instruments are clear and in working order
  • Original stereo/cassette player
  • Air conditioning
  • Leather door cards in good condition with some minor wear
  • Carpets appear clean and well-kept with no signs of damage we can discern
  • No reported issues with any instruments or equipment
  • Boot interior itself appears clean and well-kept

The Exterior

  • The classic Porsche shape, fitted out with pop-up headlights and finished in blue
  • Blue plastic trim and spoiler
  • Rough edging and to inner arches with some minor blistering to one wheel sill
  • Branding presents very nicely
  • Headlights all appear damage free
  • Wheels appear to be in very good condition
  • Underside is subject to minor surface corrosion, but we’re assured there’s nothing structural - which is supported by recent MOT
  • Baltic blue original colour and in good condition with only some minor scratches

The Mechanics

  • Powered by the ever-impressive M44/41 3.0L powerplant
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Kept in dry storage
  • Engine bay appears clean and well kept
  • No reports of leaks, knocks, bangs or excessive smoke from vendor
  • Car has not been driven regularly but has been subject to recent MOT
  • Full service and replacement of all perishables carried out in 2021
  • recently fitted new exhaust

Summary

This is a mechanically sound example of a 944 which makes for a very usable modern classic.
