The Appeal
Peter Stevens’ late-life makeover of the Esprit was much more than a refresh. It clever evolved the razor-edge styling into something more modern and saw the introduction of much-improved mechanicals.
Just 1,608 examples like this car were built. It is the ultimate Stevens-era model, the Turbo SE with revised Type 910 engine delivering 280bhp and SE trim, which includes extra exterior drama like the spoiler and side skirts.
The Esprit’s reputation as a blue-blooded British supercar is cemented in. When buying one of these cars you’ll want to be reassured by the service and maintenance history. Which is where this car absolutely shines. Check the photos and you will see a five page, neatly typed list of continuous investment from 2010 to the present day. This is no mere catalogue of new bulbs and spark plugs. Highlights include a cambelt in 2020, gearbox rebuilt and new clutch in 2024, interior reconditioning this year too and a new steering rack in 2022. Naturally the servicing has been kept up to date despite the cars low mileage for the year. The last service was in May 2024.
To cap it all off the car is finished in the fetching combination of dark blue metallic with a cream leather interior. As with the history file, the sense of fastidiousness is carried through to the interior and exterior. A long, advisory-free MOT to June 2025 underlines the sense of a very well kept car in fine order.
