The Appeal
Replacing the Cortina. Is it any wonder the Sierra came up against a wary audience in 1982? The Cortina had positively dominated charts for years, and to see that traditional three-box architecture replaced by an aerodynamic, curvy machine was quite the sudden transition. The Sierra was originally available only as a hatchback until Ford realised their misstep and quickly developed a Sedan and Saloon for the '87 model year.
By the 90s, the car had managed to carve out quite a life for itself. Often taken on as a fleet car, the Sierra's 'Jelly-mould' styling now felt distinctly contemporary and had earned a much friendlier reputation amongst the British public. By the time it exited the market in 1993, it had become one of Ford's most successful UK cars ever.
This remarkable example spent most of its life in a Ford Agency, and since then has only been through one private owner before the vendor. Almost unbelievably, the car has covered only 639 miles in the 34 years since it rolled out of Dagenham - and is still in utterly remarkable condition.
It's perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get your hands on such a remarkably low-mileage example of 1990 facelifted Sierra GSLi.
