The Appeal
Often credited as the car that beat the horse, Citroën's 2CV first hit the market in 1948 - designed for simplicity, economy and yet packed with innovation, the 'tin snail' opened up the world of the automobile for the general public. The secret was arguably its unique long-travel suspension, which was designed to enable it to traverse ploughed fields. The result was a farmer's car that was unphased by the poor post-war roads.
By the 1980s, the car was still soldiering on - though the world had changed, the desire for fanciful, simple cars hadn't, and the 'Dolly' edition quickly became the biggest seller - thanks to its distinctive deco aesthetic and clever marketing. Production didn't end until 1990 - and even now, it's a hugely popular, easy-to-use classic.
This unique example has been beautifully cared for, following a comprehensive restoration - and boasts a rather unique yet incomprehensibly apt denim interior.
