The Appeal
The car that re-asserted Bentley's status as builder of high-performance luxury motorcars, the Turbo R represents a significant epoch in the marque's history.
Beneath a stately exterior, lies something of a sleeper, the huge 6.75 litre V8 engine is turbocharged with a large single turbo setup, giving it a very old school big turbo surging power delivery. The Turbo R was capable of 0-60 in 7.8 seconds, which was very respectable when you consider the sheer quantity of steel, leather and woodwork that it needed to move. This car offers considerable luxury to passengers, featuring ample leg room and the exceptional ride and comfort you would expect from a Bentley.
1990 was something of a sought after vintage for Turbo Rs, as this car's performance is not hampered by the inclusion of a catalytic converter.
This wonderful example of a Bentley Turbo R is well presented, and has clearly been looked after. Despite a reasonable number of miles on the clock, it has been kept to a lovely standard.

The Interior
- Lovely walnut trim
- Cream leather with black piping
- Bluetooth radio upgrade
- Luxurious extras for rear passengers
This interior is the epitome of luxury, presented in full cream leather with contrast black piping, and wonderful walnut trim. From the rear hidden 4-glass compartment with engraved Bentley hip flasks, to the walnut seat table trays, this car is as much a joy to ride in as a passenger as it is to drive. It now benefits from an upgraded head unit with Bluetooth.
The car does have an issue with the drivers electronic seat controls which means the drivers seat and electric mirrors cannot be adjusted currently and the drivers seat does have more wear than the others, as you would expect for a car of this age and mileage. Overall, however, the interior is in stunning condition with very few marks or signs of ageing.

The Exterior
- Complete respray in 2011
- Deep Metallic Grey
- Wheels would benefit from refurbishment
It is unusual to see a Bentley of this vintage with bodywork in such good condition as this. The exterior has had a full respray in 2011 to a very high standard in a Deep Metallic Grey, which has almost green hints to it in the right light.
It's a stunning colour and the job appears to have been very well done with no overspray. There is only some very slight crazing, swirling and some very light rust starting to appear on the inner wheel arch edges as it has now been some time since the respray, however the minor swirls and such would be likely easily fixed with a light machine polish and detail.
The brightwork, badging, bumpers and glass are all in very smart original condition. The headlights are clear and fog free, and all emblems, including the flying-B bonnet ornament are all present and in good condition. The original silver wheels display a small amount of corrosion, although with refurbishment, would really bring the car to a high standard.

The Mechanics
- Mechanically sound
- Always well maintained
- Head gasket replaced
Mechanically this car has been treated with care and attention, and is accompanied by a great quantity of paperwork demonstrating that no expense has been spared in the cars maintenance over the years.
One notable replacement is that is has had a new head gasket fitted in 2003. There is currently a small power steering leak, however this should be a simple fix for a competent garage and has not caused any issues with driving.
The air suspension works well, and the huge 6.75L V8 starts and runs very smoothly. One point of note with the alarm, is that if the car is left unlocked for longer periods of time, the alarm can activate.
Overall, this is a very healthy example, which is in great working condition. If so desired, it would only take a small amount of attention to bring this car up to an exceptional standard.
