Originally this exceptional 1989 example was supplied to a German dealer, a professional and costly RHD conversion was carried out in 1990 when the car was delivered to the UK. The last owner a wealthy local businessman had the car sourced for him through the local Alfa Romeo dealer and added it to his collection in May 1992 with 2,741km and has now completed only 4,004km.
1 previous private owner and the importer making two previous owners. All original handbooks, wallet and service book present, still awaiting its first 10k km service stamp. Letter of authenticity from the long term owner detailing mileage, storage and servicing during his 30yr ownership.
The Spider was annually uplifted by the local specialist for its mot for a period of time even when the car was not in use before going into long term storage in 2009. Stored carefully in a wooden garage with wood floors and kept on axle stands when in prolonged periods of storage, clear waxoyl treatment carried out when near new.
THE INTERIOR
- Original Alfa features
- Original interior in outstanding condition All original working dashboard

It really has to be seen to appreciate the originality of this car! There are no signs of wear to be seen in the seats, steering wheel, or carpets.
THE EXTERIOR
The term time-warp is particularly suitable for this car. The present vendor has worked in various sections of the motor Industry for many years, being extremely fussy with a keen eye for body and paintwork. He can confidently advise that an original Alfa Romeo from the 1980’s in this condition and mileage is what can best be described as unrepeatable, the vendor has never witnessed another as good. As close to a new Alfa Romeo Spider as you will find. Original paintwork throughout with no fading or corrosion.
The all original bodywork presents in stunning condition with no repairs, a small upward dent is present on the bonnet caused by the factory battery stay when the car was only a couple of years old. The doors click shut with only the mildest effort and align absolutely perfectly with the surrounding panel work. The rest of the panel gaps are also factory perfect.
The fold down roof looks in new condition, with no sign of wear or fading. A clip on vinyl cover is also present to protect the roof and keep it tidy when it is stowed in the downward position.
THE MECHANICS
The Spider has just undergone extensive servicing and re-commissioning wherever required with no expense spared ensuring the car is useable and reliable should you wish to add some miles to it. Works included braking system, servicing and 5 new tyres. The vendor has personally completed 200km in it over the last few weeks and can confirm it drives exactly as you would expect a 2,500 mile Alfa to.
The 1600 twin cam is spritely and one of the last of the range to still retain twin weber carburettors adding simplicity and character through a lovely induction note. It’s a joy to work up and down through the gearbox on a twisty B-road where it’s tight drive train and Italian road holding shine.

The underside is a delight to view, still wearing it’s factory underside coating from 1989, all seams and spot welds visible with no signs of the dreaded rust these models are so famous for. It’s free of repairs and has not had any black under-seal applied. Careful storage and the assistance of a clear wax coating being applied have preserved it to a level that will surprise and delight any Alfa enthusiast.
THE SUMMARY
Most likely an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a Classic Alfa Romeo Spider in such stunning original condition with exceptionally low mileage. Surely a wise addition to any car collection.
