The Appeal
The 75 is, for many, the last ‘proper’ Alfa Romeo. Rear wheel drive and a transaxle layout to deliver near-perfect weight balance, it is no wonder that the firm’s race team, Alfa Corse, chose it to spearhead a return to track-based glory.
It didn’t quite work out, but that was more due to Alfa-esque mismanagement than the car’s inherent abilities. It was quick and performed well. No surprise then, that many enthusiasts have turned stock 75s into track weapons.
Here is one, a carefully evolved 1990 75 built to compete in the ARCA and CTCR championships. Featuring a Busso 3L V6 fully rebuilt and tuned by Brunswick Motorsport in 2024 - they also rebuilt the transaxle - and Chris Snowdon racing suspension, this is a seriously sporting and competitive 75. The interior has been stripped and lightened interior with roll cage to Motorsport UK specification.
The car’s party trick is that it remains road legal - it even has an advisory-free MOT to August 2025 - so could be competed or simpy enjoyed on the road. With its recently resprayed bodywork it looks the part however you choose to use it.
