The Appeal

Produced between 1978-1995 the 928 was supposed to be the replacement for the Porsche 911. Fitted with a water-cooled front mounted V8 engine the 928 was built to be a comfortable yet capable grand tourer. The 928 GT was built on the foundation of the original 928. Now producing 330hp it was one of the sportiest variants of the model.
This example has been well looked after throughout its life with a comprehensive service history. There is a large spreadsheet that documents any expenditure in chronological order.

  • It receives its first service in September of the same year
  • It has since racked up 19 service stamps
  • These are spread across Porsche Centres, specialists, and home services
  • All of these stamps can be found in the original service book

  • This is just a snippet of the car’s previous maintenance
  • There is a large excel spreadsheet that documents the known expenditure from its first service until today
  • With such a well-documented past this should be a great example to add to your collection
  • Its alternator go a new regulator/brush unit in 2021

  • The original black plastic dashboard looks to be free from cracks

The Mechanics

  • Under the sleek bonnet of this classic, you’ll find the 5.0L V8
  • Producing 330hp when new this car is no slouch today
  • It sends this power through a five-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels via an LSD (limited slip diff)
  • The current owner reports that it runs exceptionally with good oil pressure when hot
  • It uses very little oil, with no blue smoke when accelerating hard
  • The Smog pump has been disconnected
  • The 5-speed manual gearbox changes gears smoothly
  • On a drive, there are no whines or vibrations reported
  • It appears to be presented in very good mechanical condition
  • With its new radiator, and recently replaced cam belt it should be good to go
  • Out on the open road is where this 928 GT shines
  • Now it’s your chance to get behind the wheel and experience the thrills of a classic Porsche
