1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 (Phase 1)

Highlights

  • Extremely scarce Mi16 - 1 of only 9 on the roads according to Howmanyleft?
  • Desirable Phase 1 model with 160bhp aluminium engine and smaller wheels
  • Only 61,157 miles on the clock
  • Highly original and kept in dry storage since 2006

The Appeal

Despite often being heralded as one of the greatest all-time sports cars by the French manufacturer, the Mi16 is a scarce sight today - indeed, only 9 are recorded as being on the roads across the UK. That’s quite a shame - as the car is simply excellent. Boasting the exhilarating formula of Peugeot handling and a top notch, even rather incendiary powerplant, if the 405 was a masterstroke, the Mi16 offered a true magnum opus.
This example carries the highly desirable Phase-1 powerplant, with its distinctive aluminium block, and those small wheels that offer the ultimate relationship between driver and road. It’s a handsome saloon, packed with top-notch mechanics and - of course - those signature angular lines that hint to the company’s penchant for the hot-hatch.
Cars like this one are an incredibly scarce but highly rewarding classic, and this particular motor, with only one previous owner and a scant 61,157 miles on the clock, may well be one of the purest you come face-to-face with.

  • The car starts, moves and stops, however this vehicle has been in long term storage and as such is being auctioned as needing mechanical recommissioning before any use as there may be faults which are not noted
