The Appeal
Introduced in 1983, the Pininfarina-styled 205 was (and still is) one of the best superminis ever made, with amazing handling and cockroach-like survival abilities, meaning that even now there are still quite a few on the market.
The icon, of course, is the GTI – delicate, great to drive and amazing to look at, it has undergone something of a boom in recent years. A few years ago you could get a decent one for £2,000. Today, you can add a zero to that and you’ll still not get the very best.
The car we have here is a really smart example of the purest GTI – a 1.6 in oh-so-Eighties Alpine White, with a gorgeous set of original factory alloys.

Summary
The 205 GTI is one of the most collectable cars of the 1980s and 1990s, and for very good reason – few cars can even come close to being as appreciated for being a genuine legend.
This one is a great example – not perfect, but nevertheless very good and ideal for the buyer who wants a 205 they can get in and enjoy driving rather than wrap in cotton wool as a museum piece. It’s in great order, tidy overall and said to be in great mechanical order, and pleasingly original throughout.
