The Appeal
The Alfa Romeo 75 was named as such to celebrate Alfa’s 75th year in producing cars, and this model is the flagship 185bhp, 3 Litre V6, 12 valve petrol, of which 6753 were produced. Although classified as a “compact executive car”, make no mistake, this is a performance saloon through and through with an almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive and a limited slip differential.
This weight distribution, uncommon in a car of this type, was achieved by using an unusual transaxle gearbox setup placing the gearbox with differential assembly in the back, with a two-segment driveshaft bolted directly to the engine crankshaft going to the rear via elastomeric joints to prevent gearbox or engine damage from vibration. This interesting configuration permitted saloon practicality blended with sports car performance.

The History and Paperwork
• V5 present
• Lots of documentation
• Restoration photos
The vendor has owned this car for the past 3 years, and has barely been used in his ownership with only a couple thousand miles put on it before being stored in a Carcoon for the past 3 years inside a garage. Receipts from 2015 show an incredible amount of work carried out as the car was suffering from very bad corrosion, and as such had a full restoration and respray. Included is the workshop manual, a folder detailing the restoration with photographs, sale history, MOT certificates, history articles and many more. A very comprehensive history package with this vehicle.
The Interior
• Upholstery intact and tear free
• Original retro feel
The interior is in overall good condition, with the grey fabric upholstery in good shape and without tears or major blemishes. The headlining has started to sag in a couple of places but not badly and is also in good condition. The plastics are all in good shape and overall the condition is good, but would benefit from a very thorough detailing and some TLC here and there. A very retro looking interior, certainly a time capsule back to 80’s Italian motoring.
The Exterior
• Front end fully repaired and the rear inner and outer wings replaced
• Resprayed in 2015 to a high standard
The exterior is fresh and had a very in-depth restoration in 2015 with photos to show the work done, including a lot of panel work and finished with a full respray to a high standard. The silver alloy wheels are in great condition, with the Alfa Romeo centre caps in black and shod with Pirelli tyres. There is a headlight washer jet missing, however the exterior is in very good restored condition, and much like the rest of the car needs little more than some TLC and a good detail.
The Mechanics
- Very clean
- Excellent condition
- No expense spared
Mechanically very clean, everything working as it should and in great shape under the bonnet and starts wonderfully with no smoke and the fantastic sounding 3.0 litre V6 engine. No expense has been spared in keeping this car in top mechanical condition and it shows, with under the bonnet really being a delight to behold. A very solid car.
Summary
A very nice example of an Alfa 75, with the top spec engine and a fairly recent restoration and proper storage, this is the ideal platorm for a fantastic, show specification car. Mechanically very solid and everything as it should be. A very usable and desirable classic Italian saloon.
